The Family
Devotion to Señor Santo Niño of Cebu took form as a spontaneous response of
some members of CEBU Inc. Tribu Cebuano who desired to manifest their steadfast
fidelity to Sr. Santo Niño. The interest to have a 9-day novena in the home was
strongly supported by many. It was agreed that on the 9th-day novena, a
thanksgiving meal may be offered by the host family, where other devotees may
come in to join in the prayers before the image of the Holy Child is passed on
to the next host family.
Through this devotion, family unity is strengthened; it is
an occasion to reconnect with friends and relatives to bond together in a
harmonious relationship. New acquaintances are also established, thus building
a community of love, peace & solidarity among each other.
After the family Farewell Prayer, the Image of Sr. Sto.
Niño is handed over to the family member(s) of the next host. This pattern
continues on so that each day of the year, a family is praying to Sr. Sto.
Niño, asking special favors or presenting petitions.
Since the Incipient of this Family Devotion in early 2019,
the trust & camaraderie among the devotees in New York have grown; the
mutual support towards each other have been wholeheartedly appreciated. The
occassion, other than its spiritual benefit, has been filled with singing our
nostalgic song Bato Balani, that one looks forward to join with the next
host-family for another spiritually uplifting and personally gratifying
togetherness. The devotion as a whole just stirs our hearts at the very core,
as if we are back home in front of His Holy Image, waving our hands in praise
and adoration! VIVA SEÑOR SANTO NIÑO! PIT SEÑOR!
